The Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund are proud to award a $ 100,000 grant to the National School Archery Program (NASP). The program currently supports more than one million students in North America, and the grant aims to continue to expand this reach by providing equipment for new schools, covering the cost of archery equipment for them. children who may not be able to afford it.
NASP embodies the efforts of renowned environmentalist and founder of Bass Pro Shops, Johnny Morris, to bring the outdoors to new audiences. Two-thirds of the students enrolled at NASP were novice archers when they entered the program. This historic grant from the Outdoors Fund, made possible by the generosity of Bass Pro Shops and Cabela customers who round up purchases, is the fifth annual contribution of $ 100,000 to the NASP since 2016. All in all, the total of the $ 500,000 collective grant provided outdoor equipment for NASP programming that directly impacts thousands of students across the country.
“Students enrolled in the NASP program receive more than archery lessons – they acquire a hobby for life,” said Bob Ziehmer, Bass Pro Shops and Senior Director of Conservation at Cabela. “Our founder Johnny Morris and the entire Bass Pro Shops and Cabela family are proud to support the next generation of archers through NASP and hope the programming will only deepen their passion for the outdoors and conservation. We extend a special thank you to our clients for making this grant possible through the External Fund and making a difference in the lives of young archers nationwide.
NASP President Tommy Floyd said, “We continue to be grateful for our continued partnership with Johnny Morris, the Bass Pro Shops and the Cabela family. In July, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s graciously agreed to be our corporate sponsor for the 2021 NASP Educators and Coaches Conference in Springfield, Missouri, and the feedback we received on the event was phenomenal. Having the continued support of the wonderful and passionate Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s speaks volumes about their belief in our mission to develop the sport of archery and introduce young people to a lifelong pursuit of the outdoors. We are once again proud to say that 100 percent of these Outdoor Fund grant dollars will go to help new schools purchase NASP equipment. “
