A recent study in Iowa, which was not peer reviewed, found that among Iowa deer studied between April 2020 and January 2021, nearly 80% had detectable levels of COVID-19.
Professional angler Kristine Fischer is still getting used to the fact that she won first prize in the Hobie Bass Open Series Tournament of Champions.
Weeping Water kayak fisherwoman is the first woman to win a national championship in any series. She is also qualified to fish for the U.S. team at the Hobie World Championships for the second time. She qualified after winning the Hobie Bass Open two years ago.
It’s been crazy since she received the check for $ 35,000 for the top prize, she said. The 33-year-old also won an additional $ 3,000 for finishing second in the overall Hobie Angler of the Year after entering the event in 13th place.
“I did 15 to 20 interviews,” she said. “It’s all over the internet and in the fishing industry. To be honest, I’m very overwhelmed right now.”
Fischer won first place by pulling 240½-inch bass from Lake Eufaula, Alabama, during the three-day event. Consistency was key, she said, as was the execution of her pattern, covering a lot of water and fishing new waters.
Although she has won several national tournaments, she said it was her biggest career victory to date.
Only the top 50 anglers in the Hobie Bass Open Series were eligible for the event, and she was one of two women.
“It means a lot to the sport of fishing in general to see a woman win this tournament,” she said. “It tells so many female fishermen that they can do it in a field of talented men.”
Fischer said she plans to buy a bass boat with some of her earnings. But more important than that, it adds another distinction to his professional three-year resume.
“I have had a lot of doors open for me,” she said.
Fischer said she made around $ 50,000 fishing in tournaments in 2021. She also has several mentions.
It gives her the freedom to do whatever she wants with her life, which has always been her goal.
“I wanted to be the boss of my own life. I wanted to set my own rules. Being able to go out and fish for a living is a dream come true for me.”
