EVANSVILLE, Ind (WEHT) – Evansville Parks and Recreation and Indiana Archery are hosting the 2021 ‘Duel in the Cornfield’ Northern Region Archery Tournament. 80 archers from across the country are registered to compete. The ages range from 11 to 70 years old.

People will travel across the country to watch the tournament at the Goebel football pitches at the Deaconess Sports Complex. The event will run from Saturday July 24 to Sunday July 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. It will be a STAR Double 72 arrows event.

This tournament will serve as both the Indiana State Championship and the North Region Target. State, Regional and Duel in the Cornfield Awards will be presented.

Competitors include Olivia Hale, 17, of Tell City, Indiana, ranked second in S3DA
National Tournament. Megan McDonough, 17, of Bollingbrook, Ill., Placed second in the
JOAD national tournament two weeks ago, finishing behind the number 1 female archer on
the US Olympic team, Casey Kaufhold. And, 18-year-old Clay Dempsey from Newburgh,
Indiana, who won the S3DA National Outdoor Target Championship and the S3DA National Shooter of the Year.

Spectators are welcome and will come to Goebel soccer fields this weekend to cheer on the archers.
