Yankton (United States), September 29

Star India archery couple Deepika Kumari and Atanu Das are said to be looking to start over after their debacle at the Tokyo Olympics when they make the World Cup final from here today. hui.

The two-day flagship competition will also mark the return of the duo who failed to qualify for the senior squad for the recently concluded World Championships at the same venue.

After being sidelined from the squad, the duo competed on their own at SAI, Kolkata, and the two are said to be looking to redeem themselves for their poor outing at the Games.

An Olympic medal has remained eluded to Indian archers despite their impressive preparation for the Games.

Competing as world number 1, Deepika Kumari, who was the lone Indian archer in the fray, made an exit from the quarterfinals with a tame loss to South Korean sensation An San.

Das was the best among the Indian men, but also lost in the pre-quarterfinals, as they lost to South Korea in the men’s team and mixed-pair sections.

With losses still fresh in mind, the duo are reportedly looking to start from scratch during the two-day showpiece.

Deepika, who rose to No. 2 in the world, has four silver medals and one bronze in seven appearances in the World Cup final, and it remains to be seen whether she will match the feat of Dola Banerjee. Dola is the only Indian to have won a gold medal in 2007. – PTI
