SWANTON, Ohio (WTVG) – Many children have already enjoyed the Metroparks‘lots of day camp offers this summer … but why should kids be having fun? Day camp programs for those 18 and over fill up quickly.

“For our adult day camps, it’s’No children allowed“… just adults!” Says Alissa Caple, outdoor skills interpreter. “There are opportunities for adults to get out and do great outdoor activities and meet new friends who have similar outdoor interests.”

Interests like archery, with proper safety advice all the time. Even I went 7 for 7 on target at Oak Openings – bad news for the turkey, but it should prove that most people can grab it quickly.

“Even outside the day camps, we have rentals at Westwinds Metropolitan Park every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm ”, explains Caple. “Archery is super fun, and Westwinds is a super nice park. Anytime people can go out I highly recommend it.

A few other offerings that are both active and passive will appeal to those looking to get the most out of their day trip. “For some of our adult day camps, we go tree climbing, which is a lot of fun,” Caple offers. “We also have the option to hammock, and it’s really special since we don’t allow hammock anywhere – we have three designated hammock locations to help protect our truly precious habitats. This is a really great opportunity to get away from the kids and do something new – “get out of your way”! “
