New for 2022, TenPoint has announced the introduction of its new Nitro 505 reverse-draw crossbow, which the company claims is the fastest crossbow on the market today – delivering speeds of 505 fps with an arrow at 400 grain – and includes the revolutionary ACUslide silencer secure arming and disarming system. It measures 6½ inches wide and 30.7 inches long ultra-compact, and offers an impressive 227 ft-lbs. kinetic energy.
TenPoint’s patented reverse-draft bow assembly is the heart of the Nitro 505. It is powered by the new RX8-Cam system which rotates 404 degrees. The updated system features deeper cable grooves and improved cable spacing that allows for increased number of strands on twine and cables for increased strength and durability at these unprecedented speeds.
“The Nitro 505 is the fastest, most accurate and most powerful crossbow ever made,” said Rick Bednar, CEO of TenPoint. “To exceed 500 fps and maintain the durability you expect from TenPoint, our engineering team have been denied any expense in the research, design and testing phase of this crossbow. All major components have been designed to handle this level of power. The Nitro 505 is TenPoint’s most tested crossbow to date, with over 25,000 shots in the design.
The crossbow’s revolutionary Vector-Quad cable technology uses four cables instead of the traditional two, which eliminates cam tilt and generates straight notch travel, improving down range accuracy.
The ACUslide of the Nitro 505 features the company’s automatic braking gear system, which provides quiet cocking and safe, controlled disarming of the crossbow. The system includes a new brake pad designed for more robust stopping power, eliminating the risk of loss of control that could result in injury or costly arc damage during the arming or disarming process. During arming and disarming, the user can remove their hand from the handle at any time without any further action required, and the handle will stop in place. The cocking system includes a new Dyneema cocking strap that has been upgraded to withstand over 2,000 pounds of force – twice the strap of the previous generation. The 7½ inch XTEND adjustable crank reduces cocking effort to 5 pounds and stores securely in the stock.
The reverse draft Nitro 505 has a 17-inch wattage, which TenPoint says is the longest in the industry. The increased power generates more speed with less pulling weight, creating a smoother, quieter shot. The extended power stroke also keeps the arrow notch engaged with the string for an additional 4 inches compared to the traditional crossbow before release – this is an essential part of performance. The center-mounted lift provides superior balance, eliminating the feeling of a “heavy nose” and making it easier to maintain stability and increase precision.
The company’s two-stage S1 trigger features a creep-free design and an advanced roller grip system that delivers crisp, consistent 3½ pounds pull. The trigger is fitted with a DFI (Dry-Fire-Inhibitor) and is fitted with a nylon filament boom retention brush that improves boom grip and alignment to reduce noise and vibration. A built-in rope stopper system is also included to further reduce noise and vibration.
The 20-inch Micro-Trac fluted aluminum barrel reduces cockpit area by 50%. Minimal string-to-barrel contact increases accuracy and extends string life. The barrel is attached to the two-piece, ultralight Tech-X stock which features multiple weight reduction cutouts and houses the ACUslide arming and disarming system. The stock provides the shooter with an ideal pulling length and combines with the EVO-X Marksman Elite precision scope to achieve perfect alignment at eye level.
The Nitro 505 is available upholstered in Veil Alpine Camouflage ($ 3,149.99) or Solid Moss Green ($ 3,004.99) and comes fully assembled with a Ready-to-Hunt package, which includes:
• ACUslide arming and disarming system
