The archery final qualifying tournament for the Tokyo Olympics was originally scheduled to be held in Berlin in June 2020, however, following the one-year postponement of the Games, it would be held in Paris.

The Paris tournament is designated as the last Olympic qualifying event, and for Guyana it is the last chance for Archer, Devin Permaul, to secure his ticket to the Tokyo Games.

It will take place at the Charléty stadium in Paris from June 19 to 21, 2021.

After this tournament, Paris will also host the 2021 Archery World Cup from June 21 to 28, in which Guyana is also registered to participate.

“Devin trains hard and at a recent event in Canada he kept the Golden Arrowhead high amid fierce competition where he scored 639 and 651 of a possible 720 in his first and second rounds respectively,” Archery Guyana said.

“There are three quota places reserved in these Paris Championships, which are reserved for the countries of the Americas and can only be won by countries that have not yet obtained a place and each nation can only collect a maximum. one quota place per sex. The pressure on our Archer and our compatriot is high – and the battle for these quota places will be intense. “

Amid all the excitement, Devin, when asked how he felt, replied, “I feel confident about Paris, and shooting in the 650s took my confidence to an all time high.”

“The board wishes Devin Permaul all the best and urges all of Guyana to come on board and send positive energy through the miles to Guyana,” Archery Guyana added.
