Limerick clinched a ten-point victory over Wicklow with some ease in their last Division 3 South clash at Aughrim yesterday.

icklow stayed with his opponents for three quarters of the game, but it really masked the disparity between the teams.

Limerick led by two points at halftime, 0-11 to 1-6, but they might have scored two goals in the first quarter.

Wicklow goalkeeper Mark Jackson had an eventful first half, converting two free kicks and denying the Shannonsiders what appeared to be a certain goal.

Limerick was more inventive in opening Wicklow’s defense as they pulverized possession, but Wicklow still struggled to get back to parity on several occasions, helped by a 23rd-minute goal from Eoin Darcy to add to his earlier two points.

Behind 1-6 to 0-11 at the break, Wicklow scored the opening point of the second period thanks to Kevin Quinn, but the game was killed as a midterm game by Limerick goals from Danny Neville and Hugh Bourke, their top scorer.

Limerick will face a fit Derry for their semi-final on the weekend of 12/13 June – the winner will advance to the final and also get a promotion.
