Paris Saint-Germain survived a late scare to beat Bordeaux 3-2 on Saturday night as Neymar scored twice to restore their ten-point lead at the top of Ligue 1.
The hosts scored Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the opening stages but quickly fell behind when Neymar scored a brace in the first half.
The Brazilian first shuffled the ball well on his right foot to slide in the first game before completing a nice team move for his second, with both goals set by Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe then took advantage of Georginio Wijnaldum’s selflessness when the Dutchman broke through and framed him for a tap, but Alberth Elis’s strike made things interesting with 15 minutes to go.
Former Milan prodigy M’Baye Niang further reduced the deficit with an instinctive arrival in the box, but PSG managed to secure another victory, but with an unnecessary collapse in the second half.
Here are the ratings of PSG players.
Keylor Navas (GK) – 7/10 – Remained determined when Bordeaux pushed early. Called to action more often than PSG would have liked but justified its inclusion in front of Gianluigi Donnarumma with a compound displayed.
Achraf Hakimi (RB) – 5/10 – Always has something to offer on offense, although he looks quite vulnerable on defense. Will have better days.
Marquinhos (CB) – 6/10 – Made some important clearances. Wasn’t too dominant in the air. Is the classic “faking an injury then getting up two seconds later” when Bordeaux attacked.
Thilo Kehrer (CB) – 7/10 – He got plenty of header crosses and cleared well under pressure.
Juan Bernat (LB) – 6/10 – I kept the ball well under pressure and had some good runs on the left.
Junior Dina Ebimbe (CM) – 6/10 – The 20-year-old used the ball well, although he played it fairly cautiously most of the time.
Ander Herrera (CM) – 6/10 – Couldn’t help PSG take full control in midfield even though he was the go-to guy whenever they were in possession, receiving the ball more than any other PSG player.
Georginio Wijnaldum (CM) – 7/10 – Outsmarted the Bordeaux defense to give Mbappe an easy third goal. Otherwise, a classic and smooth Wijnaldum performance.
Julian Draxler (AD) – 6/10 – Some good flashes in the offensive phases but it was his teammates who stole the show.
Kylian Mbappé (ST) – 8/10 – Score Neymar’s two goals. He nearly got one of his own but couldn’t grab the rebound when Draxler saw an effort saved. Finally, he got his goal on a pass from Wijnaldum. I booked.
Neymar (LW) – 9/10 – Won his first brace since January earlier this year with two excellent results. Incredibly dangerous when running from defenders and played wonderfully creative passes.
Nunu Mendes (LB) – 4/10 – Came in to help PSG cross the line, but gave the ball away in preparation for Elis’s goal.
Idrissa Gueye (CM) – 5/10 – Didn’t contribute too much but didn’t make any mistakes that led to goals either.
Danilo Pereira (CM) – 4/10 – Like Mendes, had a chance to clear for Bordeaux’s goal but failed.
Mauro Icardi (ST) – ND
