Commander Gregory Verkuilen (Garrison) Controlled small game and waterfowl hunters enjoying the beautiful weekend weather. Complaints were dealt with regarding hunting in a closed area and suspicious fires. Equipment maintenance was done to keep up with the seasonal transition.

CO Victoria Griffith (Island) lectured on laws and ethics at an ATV safety training course at McGrath. Angling, all-terrain vehicle deer hunting, small game and archery were monitored. Fishing success on Mille Lacs lake remained slow throughout the weekend. The Soo Line, Foxy Loop, Solana Loop and Red Top trails have been busy all week. Riders get out and enjoy the trails while the weather is nice. Enforcement measures have been taken for lack of safety equipment for boats, lack of license in possession, failure to obtain a burning permit, burning of prohibited materials, driving after revocation, overnight camping in a WMA and off-road motorcycle offenses.

CO Ashley Whiteoak (Malmö) spent time patrolling for ATV activities and hunting small game, archery and waterfowl. Enforcement measures were taken for young people riding ATVs without helmets, ATVs without lights, riding an ATV on a county road and burning prohibited materials.

CO Dustie Speldrich (Willow River) continued work on a background investigation of a candidate for leadership. A trespassing complaint was processed and the complainant was advised to properly display their property. She also helped recruit students to assist MNR Wildlife with MDC testing sites.

CO Dan Starr (Onamia) worked fishing in the fall, small game seasons and looking for illegal shining activities. Assistance was provided to local law enforcement agencies in the event of impaired driving and accidents. Those who work hard for waterfowl have been rewarded for their efforts. A road-killed bear has been recovered and will be used.

Commander Mikeena Mattson (Wealthwood) this week worked in small game, archery and waterfowl hunting. Fall fishermen have also been contacted. Enforcement measures were taken for angling without a license, walleye of illegal length, lack of a fishing license in personal possession, camping in a WMA, drinking alcohol in a WMA and failure to obtain a burning permit.
