The annual SEC West adidas bowl takes place next weekend. Exactly when is on hold, as the SEC is reserving both the ESPN location at 5:00 a.m. and the SEC network location at 6:00 a.m. on October 2. This means that either the Bulldogs-at-Aggies game or the Florida-at-Kentucky game will take the first broadcast and the other game later.

The exact time for both competitions will be set after all matches have been played this weekend. The Bulldogs (2-1) welcome Louisiana State (2-1) with an 11:00 a.m. kick for the SEC network. This is only the second morning kick since Coach Mike leach took over, along with the Armed Forces Bowl victory last December.

Mississippi State just suffered a frustrating first loss as a ten-point lead turned into a two-point loss at Memphis. It was Leach’s first non-conference loss as a Bulldogs coach.

Texas A&M is also on the road this week, raising its ranking # 7 / # 5 to # 16 / # 18 Arkansas. The Aggies are 3-0 with three non-conference wins, including a 10-7 brawl at Colorado two weeks ago when the starting quarterback fell and came out early.

In a season and more, Leach’s teams are 2-3 against ranked opponents and 1-1 against top ten teams with a 6th place win in LSU and a loss in 2nd place in Alabama. .

Last year, the then-No.11 Aggies emerged from the Starkville winners 28-14, giving them a two-year streak over State and a 7-6 lead in a series that only went annual. in 2012. The Bulldog teams won twice at College Station but only once at Kyle Field, in 2017. The other victory dates back a little further, in 1913.

The A&M program has of course had older exposure to Leach during coaching ten seasons at Texas Tech.

The two teams will start different quarters from last year, although the current state starter Will rogers played a lot off the bench. As in, 15 passes for 18 or 120 yards and the State’s only offensive touchdown thrown to Malik heath. Bulldog’s other score had come earlier as a cornerback Emmanuel Forbes returned an interception for a touchdown, the first of his three pick-sixes in 2020.

Over three second season games, Rogers took every MSU shot. He’s already passed 1,000 yards (1,083) with eight touchdowns against a single interception on day one. He performs just under 75% of all throws and uses a much improved receptor body led by Makai polk (25 caches, 226 yards), Jaden Walley (14, 166, 3 TD) and Heath (11, 117, 2). Racing play remains limited by design with 163 net yards between Jo’Quavious Marks and Dillon johnson. The former was ruled out early in Saturday’s loss but is believed to be cleared for LSU.

With Kellen Mond moved and season opening entry King Haynes with injury, the Aggies gave offense to Zach Calzada. He’s been a 52% passer so far with four scores and two interceptions in his second college season. He missed out on all of 2020, however. If the aerial game spits, A&M has the security of moving on to Isaiah Spiller with 6.2 yards per carry.

As the offense adjusts, there’s an elite defense covering them, allowing just 239 yards per game and consistently stopping teams on third downs. Aggies are subject to penalties.
