Donald Trump faced mockery after his campaign held a press conference at a local garden center in Pennsylvania after earlier claiming it would be held at a luxury hotel.

In a tweet since deleted, Mr. Trump said there would be a “big press conference” at the “Four Seasons” on Saturday morning local time.

However, this was quickly corrected, with the hotel itself tweeting, “To clarify, President Trump’s press conference will NOT be held at the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia.

“It will be held at the Four Seasons Total Landscaping – not related to the hotel.”

Four Seasons Total Landscaping, on State Road, Philadelphia, is located next to Fantasy Island Adult Books and the Delaware Valley Cremation Center.

In a new message, Mr Trump himself later confirmed that the conference would be held at the landscaping center, but it was ultimately his lawyer Rudy Giuliani who spoke to reporters at the scene rather than to the American president.

Mr Giuliani’s statement came after it was announced that Joe Biden is due to win the US election and reiterated Mr Trump’s calls for legal action against alleged electoral fraud.

Many on social media have likened the scene to classic political comedy The Thick Of It.

Simon Blackwell, who helped write the hit series with Armando Iannucci, connected it to another political comedy from the couple, tweeting: “Veep still available for streaming and DVD.”

Comedy writer Zack Bornstein tweeted, “I could write jokes for 800 years and never thought of anything funnier than Trump reserving the Four Seasons for his big bailiff, and it turns out that ‘is the Four Seasons Total Landscaping parking lot between a dildo store and a crematorium.

“Also the turn they announced that Biden won DURING the conference, and Rudy asked which network called him, and reporters said ‘All’.”

Another actress, Christine Nangle posted a video in which she pretended to take the call by reserving the outdoor space for the landscaper.

“No, we don’t have a podium, why would we have a podium? We have a tiller, ”Ms. Nangle said. “I know it’s not the same, I’m just trying to match your energy.”

Another Twitter user, @TechnicallyRon, posted: “Remember when a group of lawyers tried to book all four seasons for a press conference to defend a president but accidentally booked a garden center.

“Anytime I need to cheer up, I’ll just remember it.”
