What there is to know

The FIU Panthers are quite seriously disadvantaged by ten points in the gap for Saturday’s game. They will be on the road again on Saturday and play against the Central Michigan Chippewas at noon ET on September 25 at Kelly / Shorts Stadium. Neither team wants a repeat of their last game, as each has suffered a considerable loss.

The CRF found themselves reluctant to receive an unfortunate 54-21 punch to the stomach against the Texas Tech Red Raiders last week. The Panthers were in a difficult position at halftime with the score already 35-14.

Meanwhile, CMU suffered a grim 49-21 loss to the LSU Tigers last week. The Chippewas were down 42-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too difficult to recover. WR JaCorey Sullivan put in a good effort for the losing team as he caught five passes for a touchdown and 114 yards. One of the most exciting moments was Sullivan receiving a 78-yard touchdown in the first quarter.

The defeats brought the two teams back to an identical 1-2. Some defensive stats to watch: The CRF are the 192nd worst in the country in terms of touchdowns allowed, with six over the season. CMU have had their own passing struggles as they stumble into the competition with the 220th most touchdowns allowed in the country, having given up seven over the course of the season. It’s possible that one of those Achilles’ heels will end up tripping the losing team.
